I live in Cherkassy, Ukraine. I’m a volunteer youth leader in my church. I use the sermons to teach my youth group and preach in church. The truths found here are always fresh and uplifting not only for me, but many young people in my church.

On May 13, 2007 we brought my husband’s mom to church when we came down to visit for Mother’s Day from up-north. This is the third time she’s attended with us (which is a testimony in of itself!). After the sermon my husband and I had agreed we wanted a copy of this sermon. But then Mom looks at us and says, “I need to get a copy of this sermon... how do I?” (WOW!) Your church has really opened doors for her heart and we sincerely appreciate the honesty and openess Woodland Hills approaches subjects at hand. While she may not go to church when we aren’t down to visit her, at least she attends when we come down. God is reaching her damaged heart. Thank you for being a part of her restoration that Jesus wants so desperately to bring into her life. We are forever greatful.
Note: The following testimony is about the AWOL (A Work of Love) Men’s Mission team that served in Texhuacan, Mexico from April 27 through May 7, 2007.
We are again grateful to Woodland Hills Church for sending us such a wonderful group of men ready to minister, work hard and get dirty. The fellowship was awesome and their work was an encouragement to all. It’s great to see how those who keep coming back are growing and becoming more like the Carpenter. This is all very humbling to receive from so many that we have never known or may never know but that are praying and sending with true confidence in God’s work here. The coming of the group was a great boost of joy, teamwork and advancement of the Gospel. Each team member gave of his unique giftings. It was a blessing to each and every one of us–to the villages and our family.

Hey, thanks for the shout out to all Podcasters last week [May 13, 2007]. I listen faithfully. The message and journey coming out of Woodland Hills is truly reaching beyond your walls. As a youth pastor of 10 years who recently relocated to a struggling local church, Woodland Hills continually reminds of what matters in ministry, what’s real, what this real-deal Jesus is all about. Thank you for all you do, for being faithful to the core of the message, even when, or especially when, it’s hard.

Because of the diligent prayers of our Beautiful Mess small group, I feel a peace and feel covered in the midst of life’s craziness. Also, my son has been prayed for and I’ve seen results. Everyone in our group is new to each other, yet we’ve united as Christians in serious prayer the last few times we’ve met. We’ve met new friends and feel more connected.

This study [ The Beautiful Mess] has had a huge effect on me and our small group. Instead of expecting the details of our messes to change, the Lord has been changing us and how we look at our messes. We know God is faithful to help and restore, but he is also changing things because WE are willing to be changed BY Him. This sets new cycles into motion and the Holy Spirit can work even more. Personally, I have been learning so much about not being judgemental and seeing just how much I have struggled with it in the past. The Lord is helping me to keep my hands open with him and with others, and know that it is my job to obey Him and love. It is his job to convict, teach and guide. This has been SO freeing!

The Beautiful Mess series has been an eye opening, spiritual walk increasing, and God-inspired gift to me. Every day has been a chance for me to walk out the scripture, and see how messy my life was. After I submitted 100% to him and let God loose in my mess and quit trying to control it, God has done wonderful things in me, around me and for me. Praise the Lord for his love in all things to even remember to lift me up when the tiniest things get me down. And Praise God when I’m flying high from the Holy Spirit working within me. Kudos and God bless the pastoral team for preaching these sermons, and ministering to me in a way that I’ve never been ministered to, and in doing so set me free to let god have control of my beautiful mess, and turn a mess into a thing of beauty like only he can! Hallelujah!

Thank you so much for the volunteers who worked very hard on Saturday, May 19, to make the Ames Elementary School Gardens a beautiful place for the students and staff. Thank you for your dedication as the morning weather changed from cool to rain to summer heat! We truly appreciate everything you did! I encourage everyone from Woodland Hills to drive over any time this summer to enjoy the beauty of the Ames School Gardens.
