    But I Choose You

I wrote this poem the day after I heard Greg’s sermon, "Your Thoughts, Your Destiny." The struggles listed in this poem are not all actually from my life, but they represent the voices of many. It’s a reminder of what we’re all going through on a daily basis. Like Greg said, we can choose to let the suffering define us, or we can do what Paul did, which was to rejoice in his suffering, and choose Christ. By choosing Christ we are choosing to trust in Him like He asks us  throughout the Bible. He knows that by not trusting in Him we won’t be truly safe. By choosing Jesus and His everlasting Truth, we will be forever safe, no matter what the circumstance. When I think of horrible situations that I’ve been in or troubles I’m going through, I know that it’s NOTHING compared to the walk Jesus made up Calvary.  I know I can accept it, put my chin up, and have joy for Him!

I was told I wasn’t thin enough--
but I choose You

My marriage was torn apart at the seams--
but I choose You

I can’t pay my bills--
but I choose You

I have chronic pain--
but I choose You

Life is so busy and hectic--
but I choose You

I have a mental illness—
but I choose You

My sister is dying of cancer--
but I choose You

My best friend had a miscarriage--
but I choose You

I am plagued by migraines--
but I choose You

My child is rebelling--
but I choose You

I am a sinner--
but I choose You
