There is nothing in God’s creation that shows His joy as much as little children. I have a four-year-old daughter, Kara, who’s care-free joy and love for the simple things in life constantly make me stop to appreciate things I often overlook. Her grandma (my mom) recently passed away and Kara has on a few occasions wanted to get in the car and drive to heaven to visit her (“Daddy, I know the way, we just go down the street and it's right there”). In her first visit to the dentist, she was informed that she had one cavity. Upon hearing this, she got that bright look in her eyes and said, “Good, then my daddy and I are twins -- we both have one cavity.” She loves animals. We have two dogs and two hamsters. I asked her if she wanted to be an animal doctor when she got older. “No, I just want to marry you, Daddy.” (How could I ever turn that down?)
Kara, so sweet Her sunshine smile Her joyous outlook And inquisitive style.
She knows it all Yet is quick to learn. Her thinking goes deep Teaching me in turn.
May my love for Kara Like blossom to the fruit Provide strength to abound In this tender shoot.
A flowing river- That never ceases I can only direct But she goes where she pleases.
May we join in her play And sing with her song. Letting her current flow outward, Teaching how we live wrong.
