His Families is for people whose lives have been, or may be, touched in some way by adoption. We provide support to adoptive or foster parents, those considering adoption or foster care, adoptees and birthparents. We seek to spiritually and emotionally support those who deal with issues such as transracial adoption, special needs, attachment issues, anxiety, identity issues and challenges of adolescence. We do this through one-on-one relationships, support groups and fun, educational or support oriented events.
- Our Coffee and Conversation nights continue! Join us in November with the topic of "Parenting Teens," in February with the topic of "Transracial Parently," and in May with the topic of "Attachment." Check the bulletin for dates and details...
- Quarterly Prayer Events to be scheduled! Check the bulletin for dates and details...
- The Parents in Partnership support group will resume monthly meetings on September 10. Join us the 2nd Monday of each month from 6:30-8:00 P.M. at church.
There are many ways to get involved with His Families:
Worshops and Trainings We offer trainings on various topics throughout the year. Past topics have included What's the Big Deal About Attachment, Infant Adoption 101, Adopting Waiting Children, Exploring Foster Care, and Responding to the Children of the Tsunami. Check back for information about upcoming workshops and trainings.
His Families Prayer Nights We'd love for you to join us at one of our quarterly His Families Prayer Nights. Our next prayer night is on Tuesday, October 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the prayer chapel. Got an adoption or foster care related prayer request? Let us know!
Resources and Networking We provide information on adoption and county agencies, as well as community resources and trainings. We also help connect current adoptive/foster families with those parents considering adoption or foster care. In addition, we help connect parents and kids with similar shared adoption/foster experiences. Looking for resources? Contact us!
Support Group Parents in Partnership is a Christ-centered support group for all adoptive and foster families including those considering adoption and foster care. The group provides support and resources around core issues unique to adoptive/foster families and kids. It's a chance to connect with other parents, pray, share ideas, problem solve, get resources or be supported during a crisis. We meet on the second Monday of each month from 6:30-8:00 at church. Childcare is provided. For more information or to confirm a meeting night contact Amy at 651-779-8220 or normaldozen@comcast.net.
Connection Several Covenant Groups have also been formed around adoption and/or multi-racial families. Throughout the year we have social gatherings. Past gatherings include a Thanksgiving Meal together, pot-lucks, BBQs and attending events as a group.
