    Testify! December 2006

I wanted to drop a quick note to once again thank you for the opportunity to spotlight Boxes of Love at church in October [A Box of Love includes a complete Thanksgiving dinner – enough food for two meals for a family of six]. We had slightly over 2000 Boxes of Love distributed to 63 urban partner churches and ministries from all over the Twin Cities on Saturday, November 18. We’re so excited as we have begun to receive feedback on changed lives in the Twin Cities as a result of receiving the Box of Love.

I wanted to let you know that we had roughly 115 volunteers from Woodland Hills come to help during the course of our Compassion in Action week which climaxed with the Boxes of Love distribution on November 18. We also saw just over 300 Boxes of Love financially sponsored from people at Woodland Hills. One gentleman who owns a small business took a collection from his office and then matched that collection which totaled 70 Boxes of Love being sponsored. This really went a long way towards seeing all of our Boxes of Love get sponsored this year, so once again thank you so much on behalf of Here’s Life Inner City and the churches and ministries we partner with.

– Dave, Here’s Life Inner City

I wanted to contact your ministry and tell you what a "life line" you all have been. It's the ONLY place I have been able to consistantly find "spirtual food." I live in South Georgia and our church has been through several pastorial changes and with each one, it's been rough. We are now in another transistion and without a pastor. Our church has a dynamic youth ministry along with a very progressive and community-impacting worship ministry, however, the Word has been hard to come by. That's where you guys have been SUCH a Godsend. I have just ordered several of your DVDs for our Wednesday night Bible study. We also download your teaching slide show and print up your notes and listen to the audio of your teaching. I know where you walk is very "cutting edge" for many people and I'm sure at times you feel alone, but please know that you are not! We are lifting you up and cheering you on. We consider ourselves a part of Woodland Hills Church... from all the way down here in South Georgia. Thanks!

– Connie

How far do you think your ministry reaches? How about a small fellowship in Bangor, Northern Ireland.

I’m a co-pastor of this small fellowship, and one day last week after being in despair at my sin and addictions (cast down but not dead – I made a commitment early on in my Christian life, that no matter how bad anything got, with regard to my sin especially, I would never throw the towel in) I had been listening to a series of sermons, and I wanted more, I could feel something changing within, I put a search on google for sermon podcasts, and hey-presto, up comes Woodland Hills.

After listening to a couple with relevant titles I decided to start back in 1992 and work my way through. Now I’m only half way through 1993, but I wanted to encourage you by thanking you for your commitment to your gift. In the space of less than a week I’ve ordered and nearly finished "Is God to Blame" – why has no one ever told me this before – it all seems so obvious – Jesus is God! This may seem a strange statement for a believer of nine years to make, especially one who gets up to preach every week. Thanks!

– David

I just wanted to let you know that between Saturday and Sunday services [November 11-12, 2006] our wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ at Woodland Hills donated a total of 10,106 pounds of food [for the Union Gospel Mission Thanksgiving Food Drive]. What a wonderful gift! You will be receiving a more formal "thank you" but I do the truck driving [for the Union Gospel Mission] and I was astounded at the outpouring of love for those less fortunate so I wanted to send you my personal "thank you" also.

– Mike

I have been attending Bethel Seminary (distance) for over a year now, and the thing I look forward to the most about Intensives is getting to attend Woodland Hills. Even though I keep up with the teaching via podcast, there's something intense and supernatural about physically attending your service. Between the people and the worship and the preaching, I don't think I've ever been more blessed by a community of believers! Being in this church four times in the last year has already made me want to move to St. Paul so I can be there every week! Your vision is contagious, your worship is authentic, your people are deep, honest, diverse and beautiful! God bless you all for your Christ-like-ness and commitment to the community that surrounds you! You are truly doing His work! If all churches reflected and lived the gospel the way Woodland does, this world would be a more peaceful, more compassionate place. Thank you for helping me feel like a part of something bigger than myself, and helping me connect to Christ in a deeper, more passionate way.

– Becca

My husband, Nick, and I would like to thank Woodland Hills Church for 3 wonderful years of fellowship, the last of which we were Covenant Partners. We grew so much there and had wonderful experiences in the services, our Covenant Group (who still support us!) and in volunteering.

We moved to Baltimore recently so I could attend grad school and the sermons we've been able to download have been such a saving rock for us as we're looking for a new church body. Unfortunately, we've learned how rare it is to find committed, excited believers who understand that sometimes the mind needs to be fed and satisfied to allow the spirit to grow.

Thanks so much, again, for being such a willing vessel of God and for speaking the truth, however hard it is to hear.

– Kristin
