As Paul treaded the water of the Mediterranean, he began to wonder if this would be his final hour, or if God was going to rescue him. And if so, how long it would take until that happened.

“Lord God, have mercy on me!” he cried toward the heavens. As he floated on his back, he heard the voices of the Scripture come alive to him like never before. Noah called out from his ship, “I wondered how long it would take. But it was not very long at all!”

The Israelites shouted in one accord as they trod the dry ground between the walls of the waters of the Red Sea. Moses was at the front and yelled, “It takes time to reach the high ground, but you eventually get there!”

Suddenly Jonah called out to Paul, “The sea became my testing ground, and it swallowed up my pride,” he said with a grin.

John the Baptist cried out from the Jordan, “Paul, you’ve already taken the baptism to declare your love of Christ, and you are secure in the arms of The Lord!”

Peter shouted from within Jesus’ arms as He carried him on top of the water. “Paul, I started to sink, but my Lord lifted me up! He is with you now!”

Paul smiled as he lay back, floating on the cold water. “Yes, Lord. You have had mercy on me.”
